We were lucky to catch a break in the clouds while conducting and ERT survey in the hills on the Highlands. The scenery was a well-deserved reward after a backpacking trip to the site.
Sinkholes and infrastructure in BBC News
This a story from BBC News about a 20m deep sinkhole that appeared on A26 in Kent. Luckily nobody has been hurt. This is just an example how useful geophysical technics can be for infrastructure inspections.

GPR data processing and visualisation
Here is an example of a successful GPR survey carried out at Chapel of Saint Lesmo at Glentanar. In the first instance the response from the field data is not always very strong even though the GPR lines are spaced fairly close at 0.5m. Once the data has been processed and we have created slices trough the whole data we can see clear linear features appearing that can be easily identified as buried utilities that were unknown of until the survey.
2D Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) visualization in 3D
In this example we would like to show how 2D Electrical Resistivity Tomography, or for short ERT, can be visualized in 3D. The data is shown in context, using satellite imagery of the area.
We would like to thank SRUC Aberdeen for allowing us to share the data. The ERT section has been acquired on Scotland’s oldest continuous crop testing field – Woodland.
